About Us General Construction Company has been a part of the Kiewit family of companies since July 2001. We are a privately-held, employee-owned heavy construction contractor with marine, industrial, heavy-civil, and design-build capabilities. Our marine and heavy-civil work takes us up and down the West Coast of the United States and British Columbia. Our work includes the construction of bridges, piers, marinas, breakwaters, jetties, dam upgrades, ferry terminals, submarine cables, and outfalls. In the industrial market, we have constructed and upgraded facilities for manufacturers of aircraft, petro-chemical, and pulp and paper products. Involvement with our fellow Kiewit companies has allowed us to work on several projects on the East Coast and Gulf Coast parts of the United States including Connecticut, New York, and Louisiana. Our customers include port authorities, state departments of transportation, various county, city and local government agencies, the U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Coast Guard, as well as numerous private commercial, manufacturing, and industrial companies.
