The work included 8,000 cu yd of concrete and all work was coordinated with the operations of a fully functional flood control and power-generating dam. Despite unusually adverse river flows, the work was completed one year ahead of schedule.
This project included the modification of two existing spillways to provide a temporary overflow route. The prototype consists of a series of steel stoplogs spanning the pier noses.
Features include a design-build concrete foundation poured underwater via tremie and precast boxes. The curved walls and flared floor of the chute were built in a 25 ft deep sheetpile coffercell. Stoplog guides, stoplogs and hoist, vertical and inclined gate guides and gates, and associated hydraulic and electrical controls were included in this project.
