Wanapum Dam Fish Bypass - Vantage, Wash.
Features include a design-build concrete foundation poured underwater via tremie and precast boxes. The curved walls and flared floor of the chute were built in a 25 ft deep sheetpile coffercell. Stoplog guides, stoplogs and hoist, vertical and inclined gate guides and gates, and associated hydraulic and electrical controls were included in this project. Steel flow fairing structures up to 85-ton were installed on the upstream face of the dam to channel fish to the chute downstream. The project includes 1,300 cu yd of wiresaw concrete demolition, 40,000 cu yd of concrete, and 1,300-tons of structural steel.
